Chateau Les Chabannes

Location

The Chateau is situated on the north bank of the Charente river, in the small town of Jarnac.

It is the birthplace of the former french president, Francois Mitterand, and the region is associated with the finer art of cognac production since the 1800s.

Jarnac is 10 minutes from Cognac, where most of the well known cognac manufacturers are based.

All of which offer distillery or ageing cellar visits, with the opportunity to taste a large selection of the cognacs manufactured.

Jarnac is 45 minutes from the atlantic, with beaches at Royan and st.Palais.

There are some beautiful fishing towns towards the Ile de Oleron.

Also nearby (approximately 20 minutes) is Angouleme which is well known for it's cartoon drawing school and paper factories and has a typical old town centre.

Bordeaux is approximately 1hr 30 minutes and is well known for its wine producing visits.
